IBM-UniBo Center of Excellence on Mathematical Optimization

The center has been established in 2011 to foster the collaboration between the Operations Research group at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering “Guglielmo Marconi” (DEI) of the University of Bologna and IBM. This collaboration involves IBM Italy on the educational and applied sides, and the software division of IBM that develops the software package ILOG-IBM CPLEX Optimization Studio, which is one of the leading commercial solvers for Mixed-Integer Linear Programming problems.

The main focus of the research activity is the development of innovative algorithms for Mixed-Integer Linear Programming problems with special emphasis on the computational and implementation aspects.

The Center of Excellence hosts the Early Stage and Experienced Researchers involved in the EU Initial Training Network “Mixed Integer Nonlinear Optimization” (MINO, grant agreement no. 316647).
