Dynamical Systems and Information Theory
The group works in dynamical systems (especially systems of physical interest, such as Lorentz gases, billiards, etc.), ergodic theory (for deterministic and stochastic systems, with a line of research on infinite ergodic theory) and information theory (in particular, design and analysis of entropic methods and similarity distances for the classification and clusterization of large unstructured data-sets).
Applications of our research include:
- transport and anomalous diffusion on complex systems,
- statistics of rare events,
- automatic extraction of information in literary texts and other types of data.
